Job summary

The Virginia Department of Corrections seeks a Community Placement Coordinator at the DOC Headquarters to oversee and coordinate the release and placement planning for offenders, including difficult-to-place cases, with emphasis on medical and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities include coordinating placement and supportive services, engaging with state and local agencies, and supporting re-entry initiatives to connect offenders with community resources and housing options.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of offender re-entry barriers and initiatives.
• Extensive knowledge of community resources and public assistance programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with agencies and community members.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate timely release of offenders and placement planning.
• Coordinate placement and supportive services for homeless or severely disabled offenders.
• Prioritize special needs offenders for early placement in assisted living or nursing facilities.
• Assist institutional staff and probation/parole officers to resolve problematic cases and share resources.
