Job summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation seeks a creative Recreation Specialist to plan, organize, and direct recreational programs, special events, and camps for diverse populations. The role includes front desk operations and customer service, with evening/weekend work as needed at the Aquatic Center and 2nd Ward Gym.

The incumbent will build strong partnerships with the community, supervise after-school and summer programs, and help with department events.

Qualifications

• Experience with community recreation programs.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to develop, lead, and evaluate programs and activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead, and evaluate programs and activities in a recreation center or park facility.
• Provide customer service and handle registrations, inquiries, and facility rentals.
• Ensure safety of participants and administer basic first aid when needed.
• Enforce rules and supervise program activities.
• Assist with events, field trips, and department operations.
