Job summary

City of New Braunfels seeks a Recreation Program assistant to support community programs, facilities, and events. You will assist in class delivery, registrations, and customer service while ensuring safety and satisfaction for participants and staff.

The role requires flexible hours including evenings and weekends; prior recreation or education experience is preferred, with CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus two years of customer service/public interaction experience; recreation, nature education, or athletic instruction experience preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Community First Aid and Safety / CPR / AED certification, or ability to obtain within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring the delivery of high quality recreation programs and services (facility reservations, classes, events).
• Plan, organize, facilitate, and instruct recreation programs per supervisor approvals.
• Maintain attendance, class records, surveys, and enrollment data; monitor course enrollment.
• Manage inventory and report deficiencies to supervisor.
• Provide information to customers in person and by phone; greet guests with courteous service.
• Handle minor disciplinary issues per Parks and Recreation policies.
• Assist in promoting city-wide events and coordinate setup/teardown.
• Perform administrative tasks and operate the registration system.
• Substitute for Parks and Recreation staff as needed.
• Maintain facilities and report safety issues; work evenings, weekends, holidays.
