Job summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is seeking a Part Time Recreation Specialist for the David B. Waymer Recreation Center to plan, organize, and run youth and senior programs, while also assisting with front desk operations and creating an inviting space for visitors.

This 29-hour-per-week role includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and potential vehicle use; candidates should work well independently and foster community partnerships and safe program delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Health and Physical Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience or familiarity with senior programs is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is noted.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead, and evaluate programs and activities in a recreation center or park facility.
• Provide customer service and handle registrations and inquiries through multiple channels.
• Ensure safety of participants and administer first aid when necessary.
• Enforce rules and collect fees for programs and facility rentals.
• Supervise children and assist with events and field trips.
