Job summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is seeking a motivated Recreation Specialist to plan, organize, and run programs at the David B. Waymer Recreation Center.

You will engage diverse communities through athletics, social events, and camps, while assisting front desk operations and ensuring a welcoming facility for visitors. The role requires collaboration with the community to assess needs for expanded offerings and may include mornings, evenings, and weekend rotations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or related field required.
• Experience in recreation programming for diverse audiences preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead, and evaluate programs in a recreation center or park facility.
• Provide customer service and handle registrations and inquiries.
• Ensure safety of participants and administer first aid when necessary.
• Supervise after-school, summer, and other recreational programs.
• May drive county vehicle to transport participants or travel between locations.
