Job summary

The City of Dallas is hiring a Recreation Center Assistant to support and coordinate programs at its recreation centers. You will help develop activities for children, teens, adults, and the community, and lead sessions with safety and enthusiasm.

You will assist with after school programs, manage participant records, and help with outreach and marketing at events. The role requires strong customer service, safety awareness, and teamwork across multicultural settings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of recreation facilities and programming.
• Ability to work with children, youth, and adults.
• Knowledge of sports and general rules.
• Knowledge of first aid principles and practices.
• Ability to develop activities and work with a multi-cultural community.
• Ability to enforce recreation, program, and sporting regulations.
• Establishing and maintaining effective relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing programs and activities at recreation centers.
• Lead recreational activities and instruct participants in rules of games.
• Assist with after school programs and manage program logistics.
• Maintain attendance, ID cards issued, trash bags sold, and revenue records.
• Provide information to participants about programs and classes and deliver good customer service.
• Perform daily administrative tasks: registrations, schedules, phones, payments, and materials.
• Transport youth to field trips and special events for activities.
• Instruct and enforce rules and safety procedures for activities.
• Support outreach, marketing, and distribution of program materials at events.
• Perform other tasks as needed.
