Job summary

The City of Glendora seeks a Recreation and Human Services Manager to lead recreation programs, senior services, and teen center operations, with responsibility for staff, budgets, facilities, and partnerships.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with excellent organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to enhancing residents' quality of life. Some duties require working nights and weekends and coordinating with community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with major coursework in recreation and three years of progressive professional experience in public recreation with supervisory experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Extensive knowledge of public recreation programs and facilities; knowledge of laws, rules and regulations.
• Ability to work nights and weekends; valid California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develops, maintains and implements policies for Recreation and Human Services programs and operations; ensures activities comply with laws and regulations.
• Plans, directs, and coordinates Recreation and Human Services activities; develops procedures to conduct activities and future plans for services.
• Acts as department liaison with colleges, schools, other governmental agencies, and private organizations; networks to enhance programs.
• Oversees management and maintenance of recreation facilities; manages contracts and ensures standards and budgets are met.
• Prepares and administers budgets; monitors expenditures and funds for capital projects; applies for grants and proposals.
