Job summary

SSM Health is seeking a community pathologist to provide laboratory leadership and clinical coverage for two hospitals in central southern Illinois, Mt. Vernon and Centralia.

The role includes surgical pathology, cytopathology, and clinical pathology with collaboration among hospital staff and Saint Louis University faculty. This staff pathology position requires a medical doctorate, AP/CP board eligibility, and an Illinois license to practice medicine.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in medicine is required.
• BC in AP/CP, APCP board eligibility or board eligibility in pathology.
• Illinois license to practice medicine is required; Missouri license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides surgical, cytopathology, and clinical pathology coverage as needed.
• Collaborates with laboratory leadership and clinicians across two hospital campuses.
• Maintains medical records and complies with medical staff bylaws and policies.
• Reports and addresses any equipment or facility issues as they arise.
• Performs other duties as required.
