Job summary

School District 45 is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator for a 12-month assignment to enhance student well-being by building partnerships with local organizations and managing a referral resource directory.

Under the Director of Communications, you will oversee outreach, volunteer management, and budget-aligned initiatives, coordinating with school staff, social workers, and community partners to support students and families beyond the school day.

Responsibilities

• Work effectively and communicate professionally with all students, parents, staff, vendors, and referral resources.
• Act as a conduit between community resources, the district staff, and the student.
• Promote the mission of the District in an effort to recruit referral resources, volunteers, and donors/sponsors.
• Create and maintain positive relationships and partnerships with local youth-focused organizations.
• Serve as the point of contact to School District 45 Villa Park principals, social workers for the coordination of referral resource programs.
• Serve as the School District 45 Villa Park McKinney-Vento Liaison.
• Develop and implement a database for the management of referral resources and volunteers.
• Design and maintain a preferred referral resource program.
• Conduct annual events with the goal of serving the basic needs of children such as school supply drives, clothing and shoe drives, etc.
• Organize referral resource recognition events.
• Assist in the development and adherence of the annual budget.
• Carrying out any special projects to support the basic needs a student may have that would contribute to the success of students' academic achievement
• Developing student and family engagement plans in coordination with the social worker team
• Providing necessary and relevant clerical assistance
• Assisting in the creation and preparation of materials
• Providing assistance and supports within the community that can build social skills for students and emotional support to families
• Communicating (verbal and/or written) with social worker team regarding students' needs and progress
• Participating in family involvement activities at school and in community within or outside of the school day
• Assisting students in various settings at the school or at referral resource entities
• Attending staffing and parent meetings involving individuals as recommended by supervisorAssessing engagement success and necessary pivots for benchmark success with supervisor
• Assist the District 45 communications department as needed
• Complete any necessary trainings defined by the district
• Provide assistance with communications tasks as needed
• Explore all available resources and partnerships
