Job summary

South Washington County Schools invites applications for a Community Engagement and Youth Development Intern. The role supports the Community Engagement Coordinator and partners with the SoWashCo CARES Education Foundation to assist students, staff and families district-wide.

Based at the District Program Center, the internship involves coordinating activities at community events, leading groups, and contributing to fundraising efforts. Start date is As soon as possible with hours varying.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in a camp or school setting.
  • Ability to be flexible with work locations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Positive customer service attitude.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Be an ambassador for Community Ed and a partner of SoWashCo CARES.
  • Be a dynamic and positive role model for participants.
  • Responsible for assisting with programming needs at events.
  • Set up and clean up of activities.
  • Lead large and small group activities.
  • Communicate with students, parents, co-workers, and community partners in a postive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  • Assist with collections and distribution of donations to SoWashCo CARES.
  • Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
  • Attend staff trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will work closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator to provide support and activities at community events. This position will also partner with the SoWashCo CARES Education Foundation to meet the needs of students, staff and families in the district.
