Job summary

The Salvation Army in Kansas City is seeking a Community Ministry Director to lead outreach and programming across corps and community centers. You will drive participation, develop curricula, and oversee after-school and summer camps, while building strong volunteer teams and safety standards.

The role emphasizes faith-informed community service, staff development, and collaboration with church partners to align with organizational mission and local needs.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience and/or training may be considered in place of education requirements
• Experience serving in youth or adult ministry with increasing levels of responsibility and program leadership
• Experience serving in faith-based, social services organizations preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between Corps ministries and Community Outreach
• Promote the Eastside Corps through youth programs and Worship Services
• Oversee enrichment curriculum and daily schedules for educational, recreational, and social-emotional outcomes
• Develop and execute a strategic plan for after-school and summer day camps
• Recruit, train, and supervise program staff; ensure a safe, engaging environment
• Record and report volunteer hours and community service; report facility needs
• Oversee monthly Community Center statistical reports; monitor budgets within approved limits
