Position Highlights

The Pinal County Cooperative Extension Office is seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual to fill the position of Community Outreach Assistant III. The Community Outreach Assistant III independently plans, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates community-based educational programs that promote lifelong learning and the improvement of nutrition, health, physical activity, and home management practices for limited-income adults, families, and youth throughout Pinal County. This position develops and implements outreach and recruitment strategies, cultivates partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders, and supports program administration through data management, reporting, and program evaluation activities. Working with minimal supervision, the incumbent exercises independent judgment to address community needs, enhance participant engagement, and ensure successful implementation of Cooperative Extension programs.

As part of the Pinal County Cooperative Extension team, this position supports the mission of connecting communities to University-based research and educational resources that improve quality of life and strengthen communities across the county.

This position requires the ability to travel to different locations in Pinal County to deliver the EFNEP nutrition classes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Program Planning, Delivery, Coordination, and Evaluation:

• Independently plan, coordinate,and deliver approved nutrition, healthy living, physical activity,and home management educationprograms for eligible adults, families, and youth throughoutPinal County.
• Exercise judgment in adaptingteaching methods, scheduling, and outreach strategies to meetparticipant and community needswhile ensuring compliance with EFNEP and University ofArizona program requirements.
• Evaluate participant progress andrecommend strategies to improve program engagement andoutcomes.

Program Administration, DataManagement, and Reporting:

• Independently monitor, maintain,analyze, and report participant and program data utilizing establishedEFNEP and University reportingsystems.
• Conduct participant assessments,track performance measures, identify data discrepancies, and recommendcorrective actions to ensure dataintegrity, regulatory compliance, and achievement of program objectives.
• Maintain and complete all formsrequired by EFNEP and the University.

Community Outreach and ParticipantRecruitment:

• Develop and implement outreach andrecruitment strategies to identify andengage eligible adults, families,and youth.
• Assess community needs, gatherpreliminary participant information, and establishrelationships with communityorganizations, schools, and agencies to expandprogram visibility andparticipation throughout the service area.

Partnership Development andProgram Support:

• Establish, maintain, andcoordinate relationships with community partners, serviceproviders, and stakeholders tosupport program objectives.
• Serve as a resource regardingEFNEP services, assist in resolving outreach andparticipant issues, and recommendopportunities to strengthen partnerships and improveprogram delivery.

Professional Development,Training, and Team Collaboration:

• Participate in required trainingsand professional development activities and apply acquiredknowledge to enhance programeffectiveness.
• Provide guidance, trainingsupport, and mentoring to less experienced staff as assigned.
• Collaborate with programleadership and team members to develop solutions, improveprocesses, and achieve programgoals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities(KSAs):

• Knowledge of community outreachprinciples, educational program delivery methods, and strategies for engaging variousaudiences and underserved populations.
• Skill in planning, coordinating,implementing, and evaluating community-based educational programs and outreachinitiatives.
• Ability to establish and maintaineffective working relationships with community organizations, stakeholders,program participants, and internal partners.
• Skill in collecting, tracking,analyzing, and maintaining program data, records, and reports with a highdegree of accuracy and confidentiality.
• Ability to exercise independentjudgment, prioritize multiple assignments, identify solutions to challenges,and adapt to changing program needs and community priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
• Five (5) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in coordinating and delivering community outreach, educational, or publicengagement programs.
• Experience developing and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, schools,governmental agencies, or nonprofit organizations.
• Prior experience managing program records, participant data, and reporting requirements usingelectronic databases and reporting systems.
