Job summary

Public Lab in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Community Organizer to support environmental justice through community science, open technology, and outreach. Ideal for an early-career organizer eager to work with frontline communities and build lasting relationships.

You will join the Organizing & Research team, help document concerns, post updates, and deploy open hardware for data collection, with occasional travel and after-hours events, including OpenCalls and Barnraising.

Qualifications

• Approximately five years of demonstrated job experience in a related field is required.
• Experience working with communities historically excluded from science and technology (environmental justice, indigenous, POC communities).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to translate complex mission to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Hosting the initial intake moment of people coming to Public Lab with concerns.
• Working with groups and individuals to capture materials that explain their concerns.
