Public Lab is a community-driven nonprofit that develops open-source tools for environmental exploration. The Research Coordinator helps connect scientists, technologists, and community members to advance environmental justice through accessible monitoring methods and hardware projects.

Ideal candidates are curious, collaborative, and skilled at translating complex topics for diverse audiences. The role supports fellowship teams, education, and outreach while coordinating online and in-person

Qualifications

• Approximately 5 years of related field experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse teams and remote colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain coherence in a priority set of environmental research topics on the Public Lab website.
• Coordinate synthesis of materials to assist newcomers and researchers.
• Explain steps for environmental monitoring and engage with online/offline events.
• Invite feedback and build relationships with people doing this work.
• Support fellows in developing resources on monitoring methods and hardware projects.
• Convene monthly public work sessions and quarterly public presentations.
• Assist in moderation and grant fundraising initiatives.
