Job summary

Citi in San Jose, CA is seeking an entry level Community Mortgage Lending Officer to drive mortgage sales and build client relationships with community clients, real estate agents, and nonprofit partners.

Responsibilities include consulting on financing options, collecting financial data, recommending lending solutions, and coordinating with internal partners to ensure smooth loan processing and timely closings. A Bachelor's degree and mortgage experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Residential mortgage experience required.
• 3+ years mortgage sales experience required.
• Established relationships with diverse realtor organizations and affordable lending nonprofits in origination territory.
• FHA/VA & conventional loan experience is preferred.
• The ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
• Knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern consumer lending, including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong relationship development and management skills.
• Originate minimum of 3 loans per month with a minimum mix of 50% CRA eligible or within minority tracts.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about their financial situation and lending needs.
• Collect and analyze information about the customer's finances and goals.
• Analyze financial information to assess qualification for lending solutions.
• Make recommendations on lending solutions meeting objectives.
• Advise customers on risks and benefits of alternatives.
• Promote Citi's lending services to real estate agents, builders, and nonprofits.
• Visit customers outside Citi's offices as needed.
• Collaborate with internal partners to support customers.
• Refer customers to other Citi professionals as appropriate.
• Coordinate with Operations to obtain/submit documents for processing.
• Work with Processors/Closers to ensure timely loan closing.
• Develop referral networks with Realtors, CPAs, builders, etc.
• Assess risk and ensure compliance with laws and Citi policies.
• Introduce clients to segment partners (Bank, Wealth Management, Small Business, Cards).
• Stay informed on local trends and regulatory changes.
• Attend 2–3 diverse Realtor and affordable housing nonprofit events per month.
