Job summary

Owen County Schools is seeking a Community Learning Center Coordinator to plan, oversee, and administer the daily operations of the Community Learning Center. You will collaborate with school staff to meet students’ needs, supervise administrative staff and volunteers, and ensure records and reports are maintained accurately and on time.

  • Develop and/or implement procedures for identifying students at risk of academic failure.
  • Ensure CLC programs and activities are appropriate to meet determined needs, center goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to ensure children’s needs are met; oversee and maintain CLC records; submit required reports.
  • Supervise all staff and provide team leadership in overall operation of programs.
  • Attend trainings pertinent to operation of programs and development of activities in the CLC.
  • Assure compliance with federal/state laws and district policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding employees, students and families.
  • Maintain acceptable personal attendance without frequent unexcused absences.

Education

REPORTS TO:

Director of Pupil Personnel

JOB GOAL:

To plan, organize and administer the overall operations of the Community Learning Center

SUPERVISES:

Administrative Assistant, Contractual Staff and all Volunteers

KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • 1. Knowledge of community resources and ability to access them on behalf of children and families
  • 2. Experience working with children
  • 3. Basic grant writing skills
  • 4. Basic record keeping techniques
  • 5. Confidential requirements of professional practice
  • 6. Child abuse and domestic violence reporting requirements
  • 7. Technical aspects of field of specialty
  • 8. Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities
  • 9. Interpersonal skills in relating to children and adults in a warm and supportive manner.
ABILITY TO:
  • 1. Organize and coordinate programs and activities
  • 2. Prioritize and schedule work activities
  • 3. Supervise others, leading in a team-manner while working well independently
  • 4. Interact positively with children and families of all socio-economic backgrounds
  • 5. Understand and follow both written and oral communications
  • 6. Maintain organized records and prepare reports
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • 1. Develop and/or implement procedures for identifying students at risk of academic failure.
  • 2. Ensure CLC programs and activities are appropriate to meet the determined needs, Center goals and objectives.
  • 3. Collaborate closely with school personnel to ensure children’s needs are met as effectively as possible. Oversee and ensure that all CLC records are accurate and maintained up-to-date. Submit all required reports in a timely fashion.
  • 4. Supervise all staff and provide team leadership in the overall operation of programs and activities by the center.
  • 5. Attend trainings that are pertinent to the operation of programs and the development of activities in the CLC.
  • 6. Assure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations in addition to district policies and procedures.
  • 7. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding employees, individual students and their families.
  • 8. Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
  • 9. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT-

Hourly rate, number of hours and days per year set annually by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
