Job summary

One80 Place in Charleston, SC, seeks a Kitchen Assistant to help prepare and run a smooth meal service in the Community Kitchen. You will determine meal types, prepare, cook, serve and handle post‑meal cleanup, supporting both on‑site and to‑go meals for the community.

This role requires weekend and morning availability, and the ability to work well with staff, volunteers and clients in a fast‑paced environment while upholding the organization's mission and values.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial, institutional, or buffet food service.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Flexibility in scheduling.
• Ability to relate to individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Commitment to the mission and values of One80 Place.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and ensure smooth operation of meal service in the Community Kitchen.
• Determine meal type, prepare, cook, serve and assist with post‑meal cleanup.
• Support breakfast, lunch and dinner service and assist with to‑go meals as needed.
• Work cooperatively with staff, volunteers and clients in a fast‑paced environment.
