Job summary

Volunteers of America, Utah is seeking a full-time kitchen assistant at the Women’s Resource Center in Salt Lake City. You will help with meal preparation, maintain sanitation, and support daily food service operations with supervision.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a Food Handlers permit, and 1–2 years in food service. CPR/First Aid certifications and a clean background are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Food Handlers permit or ability to obtain one on hire.
• 1–2 years of food service experience.
• Ability to follow safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
• Interact professionally with diverse staff, volunteers and the public.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assist in serving meals and snacks based on approved menus.
• Maintain kitchen, food storage and equipment to meet Health Department standards.
• Operate and maintain dishwashers and clean dishes and flatware.
• Prepare eating areas and facilitate meal-time cleanup.
• Store food properly and rotate items for safety.
• Coordinate with supervisors to provide clear food service directions to volunteers.
