Job summary

South Middlesex Opportunity Council, Inc. in Springfield, MA is seeking a Program Advocate for Loaves & Fishes Kitchen. The role supports daily lunch and dinner service, coordinates food groups and volunteers, ensures adequate food, and maintains a welcoming atmosphere in the kitchen.

You will adhere to Serve Safe guidelines, work weekends/holidays as needed, and protect client confidentiality while assisting staff and volunteers in all kitchen operations.

Qualifications

• Must be caring, compassionate, and flexible.
• Understanding of homeless population, mental illness, and substance abuse.
• Ability to maintain calm during stressful times.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate food groups and volunteers.
• Ensure adequate food for lunch and dinner meals.
• Assist with food preparation.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for guests and volunteers.
• Adhere to Serve Safe guidelines.
• Work weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Engage clients by understanding their needs and coordinating with staff.
• Attend team meetings and communicate effectively with clients and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information.
• Ensure compliance with policies and funder requirements.
