Job summary

The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program seeks a dedicated member to build capacity for Travis County through a strategic marketing plan and volunteer system. You will help low-income individuals by expanding access to resources and reducing barriers to services.

As part of a team, you will coordinate with CLS, public defenders, and local agencies to launch trainings and outreach, while gaining experience in grant writing, leadership, and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with fundraising or grant writing preferred.
• Knowledge of criminal justice systems and public service is a plus.
• Ability to lead, coordinate across teams and build partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cross‑departmental partnerships to establish a Criminal Justice Coordinating Council in Travis County.
• Develop and execute a Know-Your-Rights event series with partner organizations; recruit volunteers and venues.
