Job summary

The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program is seeking a full-time member to support Travis County Environmental Quality Division in Austin, TX. You will identify resources and help implement sustainability-related programs and projects with local communities.

You will collaborate with municipalities, businesses, and households to connect stakeholders to resources and expand environmental quality initiatives during the service year ending 2027.

Qualifications

• College graduate with demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities.
• Experience in public health, environmental programs, or community outreach preferred.
• Ability to coordinate with stakeholders and document program activities.
• Willingness to reside in Travis County, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Improve and expand Environmental Quality's ability to connect stakeholders to helpful resources.

Job description

The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Member Duties

Identify existing resources to support Travis County and community stakeholders in implementing programs and projects that reduce pollution and increase resilience. Audiences include members of the Travis County Environmental Working Group for municipalities, as well as businesses, organizations, and individual households. Improve and expand Environmental Quality's ability to connect stakeholders to helpful resources and otherwise support them in implementing sustainability-related programs and projects.
