Job summary

The Dept. of Homeless Services in New York City seeks a Community Associate/Intake Worker to support intake operations for Single Adult, Adult Families and Families with Children programs.

You will interview families, provide social service referrals, coordinate shelter placements, and maintain confidential case files with attention to detail during the application process; hours are 8am–4pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and three years of related community work experience, or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to interview families, issue referrals, and coordinate shelter placement.
• Maintain confidentiality and prepare administrative reports with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Interact with communities to inform about DHS programs and services.
• Interview families and issue social service referrals.
• Maintain liaison with shelters and coordinate transportation to shelters.
• Assist with handling inquiries during the application process.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual administrative reports and analyze data.
