The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) in Thiells, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 (Community) to identify trends in health care quality and to develop educational supports for voluntary providers.

This full-time position requires a NY RN license, at least two years post-licensure, with one year direct community experience; travel about 35%; workweek Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, no telecommuting.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
  • Two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; one year of this experience must have been providing direct services to individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, addiction, or substance use disorders in a community setting.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and use statewide and provider specific reportable data to identify trends in quality nursing and health care and outcomes.
  • Develop tracking systems using available data sources to prioritize the Bureau's areas/topics of support to voluntary providers.
  • In collaboration with the Division of Quality Improvement (DQI), track and trend voluntary provider health-related critical and significant events (CSEs) to identify trends in substandard care/performance to inform the development of educational supports with the goal of preventing recurrence.
  • Uses available data to identify specific gaps and needs in nursing and health care services, and develop programs to address identified clinical needs.
  • Utilize identified trends in questions submitted by providers to determine, develop and present relevant educational topics for voluntary providers utilizing synchronous and asynchronous training methods.
  • Develop a program for and provision of instructional and learning opportunities for voluntary agencies to meet a person’s care needs in the community following hospitalization and skilled nursing facility stay using in-person, virtual and pre-recorded methods of training.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of preventive healthcare and incident prevention educational materials as needed across programs.
  • Review and evaluate the success of guidance and education provided to voluntary providers and update training materials accordingly.
