Job summary

The American Heart Association in New York City offers a hands-on internship for college students within a national health nonprofit. The program runs 20 hours per week, with 1–2 days in-office in Midtown Manhattan, and pays $23.00 per hour from 1/25/27 to 5/7/27.

Interns will support community health initiatives, program evaluations, volunteer coordination, and communications demonstrating local impact. Applicants should be public health students, willing to travel locally, with strong

Qualifications

• Students pursuing a public health or related degree.
• Willingness to travel to local events and meetings in NYC.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Learn quickly with strong attention to detail.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing community and culturally appropriate health initiatives.
• Support work around hypertension, nutrition insecurity, and CPR awareness.
• Assist with internal program evaluations.
• Help communicate impact of local efforts.
• Develop resources and demonstrate stories via research and interviews.
• Create and manage a volunteer database and respond to inquiries.
• Identify and develop playbooks, promotional materials and tools.
• Support planning of trainings, health fairs, and community events.
• Assist with external events and campaigns.
