Job summary

City of Raleigh is seeking a motivated individual to support community gardens and health and wellness programs within Raleigh Parks. You will assist with garden maintenance, volunteer coordination, and program activities, working with staff, volunteers, gardeners, and community partners.

The role involves hands-on garden work, program preparation, participant engagement, data collection, and event support, with regular travel between garden sites and community events.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in gardening, horticulture, parks and recreation, community health, or related fields.
• Ability to perform physical outdoor work and lift/move program materials.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on maintenance at city garden sites including planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, and general upkeep.
• Assist with planning and implementing seasonal garden activities and events.
• Coordinate garden workdays, volunteer events, and educational workshops.
• Maintain inventory of garden tools and supplies and report needs to supervisor.
• Track volunteer participation, attendance, and program data.
