Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a dynamic retail leader to captain a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. You will drive customer experience, sales growth, and efficient operations while managing talent across multiple locations.

The role emphasizes coaching and developing staff, optimizing costs, and ensuring compliance with safety and policy standards. A strong communicator with a track record in retail leadership is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and sound judgment in a retail or service environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of management experience in retail or similar environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English for reports and professional correspondence.
• Proficiency with math and computer applications, including POS and timekeeping systems.
• Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel between locations as needed.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in a seven-day operation.
• Demonstrated ability to inspire, coach, and develop teams to deliver exceptional service.

Responsibilities

• Talent Leadership & Development – Recruit, coach, and retain a high performing team.
• Customer & Donor Experience – Deliver exceptional service to internal and external customers.
• Sales & Financial Performance – Drive revenue, control costs, and use data to inform decisions.
• Inventory & Production Management – Manage inventory, production flow, and merchandise quality.
• Donations Operations – Ensure efficient intake, processing, and safe donations.
• Operational Excellence & Reporting – Complete bookkeeping and timely reporting.
• Merchandising & Presentation Standards – Maintain consistent visual merchandising and floor presentation.
• Market Awareness – Monitor local trends and adjust strategies.
• Communication & Collaboration – Communicate clearly across departments and leadership.
• Safety & Compliance – Enforce safety protocols and organizational policies.
• Policy Adherence & Values – Lead by example in ethical decision making.
• Leadership Engagement & Special Projects – Participate in initiatives and improvements.
• Other Duties – Assist as needed to support store success.
