Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a dedicated Personal Trainer to build positive member relationships, deliver customized training programs, and maintain safe, effective workout spaces. You will guide participants toward their Health & Wellness goals and demonstrate proper technique with clear modifications.

Requirements include NCCA accredited certification, CPR/AED and First Aid, and fingerprinting per policy.

Qualifications

• NCCA Accredited Certification required (ACE, ACSM, ISSA, NASM)
• 4 year degree in related field or 1 year Exercise Science Certification, or specialty certification
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with members of all fitness levels
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification from recognized bodies (ARC/ACHA/ISHI)
• Fingerprinting required by YMCA policy; background checks will follow conditional offer

Responsibilities

• Create a positive member experience by welcoming participants and ensuring active engagement in workouts
• Demonstrate proper form and technique, provide appropriate modifications and cueing
• Maintain a clean and safe workout area
• Effectively utilize scheduled training time
• Set up and breakdown class equipment within allotted time
• Build community by learning names and helping members reach Health & Wellness goals
• Respond to emergencies with appropriate actions when needed
• Other duties as assigned
