Job summary

Southeastern Vermont Community Action Inc (SEVCA) seeks a Family Services Worker to administer direct client services in emergency and non-emergency circumstances. The role involves information and referral, advocacy, and financial assistance within SEVCA programs.

The worker will identify local needs, mobilize public resources, and collaborate with community groups to address poverty-related challenges, while ensuring compliance and timely documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and experience in a human services-related field; a bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field is desirable.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the challenges faced by low-income individuals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and with a diverse variety of people.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, and database systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to ensure quality services.

Responsibilities

  • Administers direct client services under emergency and non-emergency circumstances.
  • Provides information and referral, advocacy, and/or financial assistance in designated program areas.
  • Educates and supports clients in accessing resources and services.
  • Maintains liaison with community resources and other agencies.
  • Documents client interactions and program compliance in timely manner.
