The City of Foley, Alabama seeks a senior Events Director to be the primary authority and single point of contact for city and third-party events, public gatherings and permits. You will oversee end-to-end administration, cross-functional sign-offs and operational leadership to relieve executive burdens.
Responsibilities include managing event life cycles, budgets, vendor relations, volunteer programs and venue compliance while coordinating with Police, Fire, Public Works and Parks & Recreation.
Under general supervision, this role serves as the City’s primary authority and single point of contact for city-produced and third-party special events, public gatherings and public space permits. The position fully takes over the end-to-end administration, strategic planning cross-functional sign-offs, and operational leadership of events to relieve executive leadership and department directors (including Parks & Recreation, Leisure Services and Destination & Events Services) of routine event coordination, inter-departmental alignment, and administrative sign-off burdens. The position oversees the entire life cycle of municipal events, administers public space permits, chairs the Special Event Application Review Committee, acts as the primary liaison between city leadership, municipal departments (Police, Fire, Public Works, Parks & Recreation), and external stakeholders, and manages event budgets, vendor relations, volunteer programs, and venue compliance. Reports to the Director of Destination & Events Services.
Bachelor’s Degree (Public Administration, Business Administration, Hospitality, Event Management, or related field) and five (5) years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CPR and First Aid certification required.

The City's group insurance is currently through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. The employees’ health, vision, hearing and dental premiums are paid in full by the City. The City pays 50% of family coverage. The employee cost for family health, vision and hearing is $67.47 per semi-monthly deduction cycle and dental is $10.00 per semi-monthly deduction cycle. The total monthly cost for family health and dental coverage is $154.94.
