Job summary

The City of Santa Fe Springs seeks an Event Coordinator to plan and execute community events for the Parks and Recreation Department. You will manage events from initial planning through on-site execution and evaluation, coordinating schedules, vendors, staffing, equipment, site operations, and expenses.

Work with City staff, sponsors, contractors, volunteers, and the public to ensure safe, organized, and welcoming events; the role requires evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• At least two years of experience in event coordination, recreation, hospitality, community programming, marketing, or communications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement assigned community events, concerts, celebrations, and other department activities.
• Develop event work plans with timelines, staffing, equipment, and facilities.
• Secure and coordinate vendors, performers, contractors, and food providers.
• Coordinate permits, public safety, traffic control, and facility use with City departments.
• Prepare staffing assignments and supervise part-time staff and volunteers.
• Oversee event setup, operation, and cleanup; respond to schedule changes and issues.
• Assist with budgets, purchase requests, contracts, and invoices.
• Develop event marketing timelines and coordinate content for social media and newsletters.
• Maintain accurate event records and sponsor commitments.
• Maintain event equipment inventory and identify replacement needs.
• Represent the department professionally to participants, partners, and vendors.
