The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY MED) is the only medical school in the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. The CUNY School of Medicine also offers a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (PA). With the award of a Research Centers U54 Cooperative Agreement, the CUNY MED has established the NY Center for Advancing Translational Research & Health (NYCTR). As the only medical school in the City University of New York system and sole awardee in the Northeastern United States, the center is optimally positioned to carry out our mission of advancing health science and translational research for the benefit of New York City communities in need. The Center is aligned with the National Institute of Health (NIH) vision of an America in which all populations have an equal opportunity to live long, healthy, and productive lives.
Under the general supervision of the center Multiple Principal Investigators (MPIs), and reporting directly to the Community Engagement Core (CEC) director, the Project Manager (PM) is responsible for coordinating all academic-community activities & initiatives and supportive administrative aspects of the center CEC. The PM will play a pivotal role in establishing the center’s presence and expanding academic & community engagement integration in the Harlem community and across New York City. The PM will understand the relevance of academic-community partnerships pertaining to the center objectives and possess a passion for, understanding of, and sensitivity to the vital intricacies of community-based work, such as trust-building. The PM will be the visible representative of CUNY MED & the center and promote partnerships to increase health across NYC.
The PM schedules and facilitates meetings between the CEC Core Directors and the Community Advisory Board (CAB). Engages the CAB to plan academic-community education sessions, and assists in planning an annual Healthier NYC Town Hall meeting to address community-specific topics of interest. The PM regularly meets with the CEC director, Advisory Committee Program Manager, and other key center personnel to provide project status updates and prepare quarterly and annual reports. The CEC PM oversees compliance with all regulatory requirements pertaining to research projects involving human subjects, including IRB approvals & Amendments and the secure storage of subject data.
The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) is a nonprofit educational corporation founded in 1963 to provide post-award fiscal and administrative support for CUNY’s research and sponsored programs. RFCUNY’s services allow CUNY researchers, faculty, and staff to focus on their intellectual curiosity and scientific discoveries, on projects and programs that serve our local and global communities, proposing concrete solutions to society’s most pressing challenges.
RFCUNY serves as a fiscal agent and works closely with all the CUNY campus Grants Offices to perform the core functions of post-award financial management for CUNY research projects and sponsored programs. These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
