Job summary

Albemarle County is seeking a Community Connector to support communications, public engagement, and outreach efforts, with a focus on coordinating Community Advisory Committees (CACs). The role develops content for digital platforms and works with County departments to ensure information is accurate and accessible.

The position is part-time, temporary through June 20, 2027, with hybrid telework eligibility and opportunities to engage in town halls and community events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, urban planning, global studies, sociology, public policy, graphic design, or marketing or related field.
• Functional knowledge of computer software and MS Windows operating system.
• Experience with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media platforms.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, and publicly announces recurring Community Advisory Committee meetings.
• Serves as the primary coordinator of CAC operations and ensures meetings are organized and conducted correctly.
• Attend CAC meetings to provide support and foster positive interaction.
• Track metrics related to CAC participation, meetings, and public engagement for reporting.
• Conduct outreach campaigns to fill vacancies and maintain quorums.
• Attend public outreach activities including town halls, tabling at events, and other interactions.
• Coordinate content with County departments to ensure accuracy and consistency.
