Job summary

Malama Health is seeking Community-Based Doulas to support our members as Doula Navigators, bridging providers with families and coordinating care with compassion. You will use digital tools, conduct outreach, help families navigate appointments, social services, and resources, and contribute to improving maternal health equity at a fast-growing healthtech startup.

Fluency in English and Spanish, a Tennessee residence, and a passion for birth equity will help you thrive in this role.

Qualifications

• Must be a certified birth doula prior to employment or commit to Malama-sponsored doula training.
• Lactation certification strongly preferred (CLC, CLE, or equivalent); IBCLC not required.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal) and bilingual in Spanish.
• Located in Tennessee.
• Proficient with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive), Notion, Slack, Zoom.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Care Management to meet patient needs via outreach, check-ins, and comprehensive assessments; assist with appointments, social services applications, and other requests.
• Coordinate care services and referrals with health plans and multi-disciplinary teams to drive services to completion.
• Communicate to empower patient learning using motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and harm-reduction approaches.
• Utilize required care management portals to document, track, and improve services; manage caseload targets and prioritize follow-ups.
• Be reliable and responsive to text and calls; adapt to new technology and maintain patient-centered communication.
