Job summary

JPMorganChase's Community Development Banking team in New York is seeking a Community Development Banking Associate to support underwriting and approval of acquisition, construction, and permanent loans for affordable housing and economic development projects.

You will gather and analyze deal information, prepare LOIs and term sheets, build profitability models, coordinate due diligence, and collaborate with Credit, CRELA, Legal, and other partners to move transactions toward closing.

Qualifications

• Experience in community development real estate lending or investing, with emphasis on affordable housing.
• Strong underwriting knowledge of LIHTC, subsidy layers, and construction/permanent financing.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Excellent analytical and financial modeling abilities; capable of risk assessment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple transactions with disciplined timelines.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze client, sponsor, and deal information for underwriting.
• Support pitch preparation and evaluate deal terms, budgets, and economics.
• Prepare LOIs and term sheets with the Credit Originator.
• Build draft profitability models with the originations team.
• Coordinate due diligence, document flow, and timelines across teams.
• Facilitate appraisals and third-party reports, tracking costs and next steps.
• Coordinate internal communications to support onboarding and closing.
• Collect documents and coordinate KYC submissions.
• Track sponsor exposure, deal activity, and production reporting inputs.
• Monitor progress and escalator issues affecting closing timelines.
