Treatment Alternatives for Stronger Communities (TASC) is hiring a full-time Deflection Specialist to serve Adams, McDonough, Hancock, Brown, Schuyler, and Henderson Counties in Illinois. The role focuses on outreach, education, and training on substance use disorders, community resources, pre-arrest diversion, health insurance, and related topics, acting as the public face of TASC in designated areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CADC preferred at time of hire.
• One or more years of outreach experience.
• One or more years’ experience with providing training/presentations.
• Knowledge of local treatment & service providers is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach activities for participants and communities.
• Make referrals to treatment, recovery support, and housing services.
• Attend community events to educate on diversion and outreach.
• Assist enrollment for Medicaid when needed.
• Conduct follow-up for participant needs.
• Build relationships with project staff, partners, providers, and law enforcement.
• Represent the program at events and trainings.
• Deliver ongoing program trainings on goals and objectives (including naloxone).
• Engage participants with substance use disorder to assess needs.
