Job summary

The Washington State Department of Corrections seeks a Corrections & Custody Officer 2 in Everett, WA to supervise community restitution crews and transport participants. The role may be armed after firearms academy completion, with 0700-1500 shifts, Monday through Friday.

Travel to work sites will be via state vehicle, with a focus on safety and professional conduct. Required: 1 year of DOC CO2 experience or two years in related fields, plus a WA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Corrections and Custody Officer with the WA State Department of Corrections including completion of the training plan.
• Possess and maintain a vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in law enforcement/security/corrections with security functions and contact with individuals suspected or convicted of crimes.
• Complete required background checks and pre-employment screenings as specified.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, instruct, and monitor individuals ordered to perform work crew or community service.
• Transport supervised individuals to and from work sites using a state vehicle.
• Monitor activities and ensure worker safety with proper safety orientation.
• Issue and account for equipment, tools, and safety gear.
• Exercise professional authority and de-escalation skills when needed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and conduct inspections when warranted.
