Overview

Arc Human Services is hiring three PRN Community Based Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) covering the Washington County region. Hours vary from Monday to Friday between 8–4pm, with possible evening or weekend work depending on client placement. The positions fall under our Employment Program, so hours will align with client schedules.

Responsibilities

This position reports to the Community Based Services Specialist and is responsible for providing comprehensive support to individuals in both home and community settings, including vocational and employment environments. The role focuses on promoting independence, community integration, and successful participation in competitive and small group employment settings.

The DSP will support individuals in developing daily living skills, social and communication abilities, and job readiness competencies. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, facilitating community engagement, providing hands‑on job coaching, training, and employment support.

Collaboration with interdisciplinary team members including family members, behavioral specialists, employers, and outside agencies ensures individuals achieve personal, social, and employment goals. Shift schedules vary based on individual and agency needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with at least one year of experience working with children or adults with an intellectual or developmental disability, including training in home/community-based and/or vocational settings.
• Previous work experience in industry or rehabilitation is preferred (e.g., office work, manufacturing, restaurant, grocery store).
• Experience may include volunteer work or internships.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, families, staff, and employers.

Certifications / Licenses

• Must successfully complete and maintain all state and federal employment certifications such as ACRE or CESP within the first six months of employment.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past three years and proof of automobile insurance.
• Child abuse and criminal clearances, FBI check, completed physical including a T.B. Mantoux test.
