Job summary

Kahak Health Services in Idaho is seeking a Community-Based Supports DSP to help children with developmental disabilities become more independent and integrated in their community. You will support activities, reinforce skills, and ensure services align with each child’s plan of service.

The role emphasizes travel to approved activities, safety, and accurate documentation after each visit, with required certifications and clear background checks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Six months of supervised experience with children with developmental disabilities (paid work, practicum, internship, or six hours shadowing with weekly supervision for six months). For birth-to-three, experience with infants/toddlers with delays or disabilities.
• Complete Department-approved competency coursework for Community-Based Supports.
• Receive instruction in the needs of the participant and demonstrate the ability to provide services according to the plan of service.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Satisfactorily complete an Idaho criminal history and background check.

Responsibilities

• Support the child's participation in community activities identified on their plan of service
• Reinforce skills such as communication, socialization, personal care, mobility, relationship-building, and participation in leisure and community activities
• Assist with activities of daily living and support skill development in natural community settings
• Provide transportation to approved activities
• Monitor for safety and maintain a healthy, safe environment for the individual and yourself
• Follow each child's plan of service and complete required program documentation/progress notes for every visit
