Brooklyn Community Board No. 14 is a New York City agency. As the most local city agency, Community Boards serve as the liaison between the district and all city agencies to identify and meet local needs. We are empowered through the New York City Charter to make advisory decisions on land use, budgets, public policy and to monitor city services. The Board is composed of appointed volunteer members who represent the district, which covers the neighborhoods of Flatbush, Midwood and eastern Kensington. The staff are the primary point of contact with community members and city government.
The Community Associate, under supervision and direction of the District Manager, assists in resolving community issues, supports the Board Chair and Members and is responsible for various administrative tasks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
