An established industry player is seeking dedicated Community Associates to join their team in New York. In this vital role, you will support the day-to-day operations of shelter intake, ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the assistance they need. You will engage with clients, manage sensitive information, and collaborate with various community shelters to facilitate placements. The selected candidate will serve as a Community Associate in the Correspondence/FOIL/Record Central Unit within BWSO’s Division of Management Services. The selected candidate will be responsible for processing a wide range of requests from correspondence, open records, connection card requests for large area requests for geographic data, and document research. Responsibilities include the production and editing of maps for water mains, sewer as-builts, stormwater, and sanitary drainage plans. The candidate will process requests for water and sewer information records submitted by the private sector, government agencies, and private firms retained by government agencies. They will also update and maintain the tracking database, including Microsoft Dynamic (CRM), ESRI Geographic Information Systems (GIS), CorrTrack, Infor Public Sector (IPS), OpenRecords, and other customized records retrieval applications, as well as ensure MS4 environmental compliance.
Under general supervision with some latitude for independent or unreviewed action or decision, the candidate may perform basic research in city planning. FOIL requests and requests in response to legal subpoenas must be researched and processed promptly due to tight litigation deadlines. Responsibilities include researching and processing requests for information related to correspondence, FOIL requests for water and sewer information, tap cards, and sewer connection cards; scanning water tap cards and sewer connection cards; entering required information into databases; maintaining files; and updating records.

Qualification Requirements
• High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described above; or
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
