Job summary

The State of Missouri is seeking a communications professional to create, edit, and publish content across websites, emails, social media, and print materials. You will manage department websites using WordPress and Drupal, monitor analytics, and ensure accessibility standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and publish content across multiple platforms (web, email, social, print).
  • Assist with managing and updating department websites using WordPress and Drupal.
  • Monitor digital analytics to track performance and identify opportunities.
  • Ensure materials meet accessibility standards (Title II/Section 508).
  • Support design and layout of communications materials (webpages, graphics, presentations).
  • Contribute to outreach efforts promoting department programs.
  • Participate in brainstorming, planning, and strategy meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to develop clear content.
  • Distribute informational materials to internal and external audiences.

WORK SAMPLE REQUIREMENT:

To fully assess your communication skills, applicants are asked to attach 3-5 distinct samples of work demonstrating written communication and/or graphic design abilities to their resume and cover letter.

  • Support a wide range of communications activities, including content creation, digital updates, internal communications and public-facing messaging
  • Create, edit, and publish content across multiple platforms, including websites, email newsletters, social media, and print materials
  • Assist with managing and updating department websites using WordPress and Drupal
  • Monitor digital analytics to track performance of communications efforts and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure all digital and print materials meet accessibility standards, including Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 509 guidance
  • Assist with the design and layout of communication materials, including webpages, graphics, presentations, and promotional items
  • Support marketing and outreach efforts that promote department programs and initiatives
  • Actively participate in communications team brainstorming, planning, and strategy meetings
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to gather information and develop clear, accurate, and engaging content
  • Prepare and distribute informational materials to internal and external audiences
  • Contribute to public awareness campaigns and other department-wide communication initiatives
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
COMPETENCIES:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required

  • Knowledge of marketing and communications principles
  • Understanding of layout and design fundamentals
  • Experience with Drupal and/or WordPress preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products preferred

Beneficial education and/or work-related experience includes technical or professional experience in communications, marketing, graphic design, journalism, web design, or a related field.
