Communications Project Manager, Digital Strategy

DAI seeks a Communications Project Manager, Digital Strategy to provide strategic communications and project management support to the Digital Strategy Buy-In.

Candidates must have U.S. work authorization and the ability to work EST hours. DAI is unable to sponsor visas.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Communications Management and Content Development
  • Provide direct support for the Digital Strategy's activities, including preparing communication materials, developing strategies, social media toolkits, blogs, fact sheets, copy-editing, formatting, managing events, writing success stories and talking points, and preparing presentations and reports.
  • Support the development of thought leadership pieces on innovative digital technology uses in development, possibly drafting these independently.
  • Create dissemination plans and communication campaigns for knowledge products, supporting their implementation with the initiative lead and the client.
  • Understand digital development concepts to create content for various products, requiring ongoing learning in this evolving field.
  • Utilize MEL data, lessons learned, and accomplishments to craft stories highlighting achievements.
  • Identify new outreach opportunities, including channels, audiences, and partners, to enhance Digital Strategy work.
  1. Client and Project Management
  • Collaborate closely with USAID clients to support product development, thought partnership, and communication strategy design.
  • Oversee communication-related consultants and sub-awardees, including freelancers such as copy editors and graphic designers.
  • Ensure all products comply with the Digital Frontiers Marking and Branding Plan and USAID Style Guide.
  • Coordinate with other communications offices and staff within DAI and USAID.
  • Work with the Digital Strategy MEL team on quarterly and annual reports.
  • Manage a small independent budget, including updating pipelines and tracking invoices.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA degree (master’s preferred) with at least six years’ experience in communications and international development.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proactive initiative.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with USAID programming and branding policies (preferred).
  • Willingness to work during EST business hours.
TIMING

The position is scheduled through September 2023 with a likely extension through September 2024.

SUMMARY

Digital Frontiers is a $90 million buy-in mechanism (2017-2024) supporting USAID Bureaus and Missions. DAI implements the project, collaborating with USAID’s DDI, ITR/T, Missions, private sector, civil society, and development organizations to identify and scale digital development approaches.

BACKGROUND

USAID’s first Digital Strategy was released in April 2020, setting an agency-wide vision for digital development and humanitarian assistance. The strategy aims to foster open, secure, and inclusive digital ecosystems contributing to development outcomes. Digital Frontiers supports the strategy’s development and implementation, working closely with USAID to ensure a thorough, consensus-led process.
