The Communications Manager leads communication initiatives, public relations, and marketing campaigns for the E. J. Ourso College of Business undergraduate degree programs and student success initiatives. This role requires exceptional writing and editing skills to produce a wide array of content, from press releases and promotional materials to social media content, digital communications, and website content. Creative thinking is essential for devising innovative strategies that resonate with stakeholders and wide audiences. The Manager elevates the college's programs and accomplishments through collaboration with internal teams, faculty, staff, and students. They employ strategic thinking and communication expertise to advance the college's mission and reputation.
As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
Due to the nature of the position and/or responsibilities, in times of emergencies and/or University closures, this position is considered operations essential. It may be required to assist the Office of Communications on necessary communications matters in times of crisis, including potentially working with LSU's Emergency Operations Center during those times.
Education Level: Bachelor's
Years of Experience: Three or more years of professional work experience in one or more of the below experience areas.
Specific Experience: Marketing communications, social media management, digital content creation, advertising, project management, journalism, or a closely related area.
