Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy in partnership with the Chief of Staff that advances the Congresswoman’s priorities.
  • Serve as the office’s primary strategic advisor on communications, messaging, media strategy, and rapid response.
  • Advise on communicating complex legislative and policy issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with reporters and media outlets.
  • Manage day-to-day press operations: respond to inquiries, coordinate interviews, pitch stories, identify coverage opportunities.
  • Draft and edit press releases, statements, talking points, op-eds, speeches, newsletters, media advisories, and other materials.
  • Prepare the Congresswoman for interviews, press conferences, speeches, and other media appearances, with briefing materials.
  • Manage a DC-based Press Secretary and oversee the office’s digital and social media strategy.

This person will serve as the office’s senior communications strategist, working closely with the Congresswoman and senior staff to advance the Congresswoman’s priorities.Successful candidates will have exceptional writing and editing skills, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail. Responsibilities include:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy in partnership with the Chief of Staff that advances the Congresswoman’s priorities and reflects the needs and interests of the district.
  • Serve as the office’s primary strategic advisor on communications, messaging, media strategy, and rapid response.
  • Advise the Congresswoman and senior staff on how to effectively communicate complex legislative and policy issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national reporters and media outlets.
  • Manage day-to-day press operations, including responding to media inquiries, coordinating interviews, pitching stories, and identifying opportunities for coverage.
  • Draft and edit press releases, statements, talking points, op-eds, speeches, newsletters, media advisories, and other communications materials.
  • Prepare the Congresswoman for interviews, press conferences, speeches, and other media appearances, including developing briefing materials and conducting media preparation.
  • Manage a DC-based Press Secretary and oversee the office’s digital and social media strategy.
