Role: Coordinator, Communications

Location: Washington, DC

Status: Full-Time Exempt

Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000 (commensurate with experience)

Overview of the Role

Halcyon works with early-stage, impact-driven entrepreneurs who drive innovative, market-based solutions in Climate, Health, and Equity Tech. Through our global accelerator programs, we guide founders in product‑market fit, capital strategy, and leadership development. Through tailored training, mentorship, and non‑dilutive resources, we’ve engaged over 650 entrepreneurs at critical inflection points to launch and scale ventures that have positively impacted millions of lives.

As the Communications Coordinator, you will report to the Senior Manager of Communications. The Communications Coordinator is a critical member of a small and collaborative communications team. This role supports Halcyon’s strategic communications and marketing to successfully deliver its programs, engage supporters and funders, and enhance its brand and reputation globally. This person has primary responsibility for the organization’s digital communications platforms across social media, email, and the website, including strategy, content development, creative asset creation, and day‑to‑day channel management. The Coordinator will also play an integral role in the execution of broader internal and external communications.

What We Need

• Manage and support content development, and community management for all Halcyon’s social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter X, Instagram, YouTube, and Vimeo. Work with outside vendors and agency partners as needed for the creation of digital content.
• Work hand‑in‑hand with program teams to develop content that supports recruitment needs, events, and storytelling for Halcyon’s programs.
• Lead Halcyon’s visual brand by designing graphics for social media, the website, mass email construction, one‑pager information documents, and more by utilizing tools such as Canva and the Adobe Suite.
• Manage Halcyon’s website, including day‑to‑day edits and approval of team member edits, as well as bigger page rebuilds and the creation of future content, as well as working with an outside vendor to produce additional WordPress modules as needed to meet website needs.
• Manage the digital side of Halcyon’s thought leadership efforts, including identifying opportunities to leverage social media platforms to position Halcyon, broader, or its leadership, as experts in the area of impact‑driven business.
• Manage execution for Halcyon’s email communication and newsletter, including creating and enforcing SOPs for email content creation, building emails, developing email lists, and aligning them with email content, and sending emails ranging from event invitations, to special bulletins, to fundraising emails.
• Support broader communications efforts, such as media relations, events, and collateral, such as the annual report.
• Monitor industry news and trends and provide weekly updates to staff.
• Provide timely and full follow‑up on communications projects.
• Support in the research, writing, and editing of content, including thought leadership.
• Assist in diverse Halcyon activities, including staffing program events, recognizing that teamwork depends on occasionally stepping outside one’s direct responsibilities to support the team’s broader goals.

Who Are You

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing, or a related field.
• Experience: 2–3 years of experience in communications or marketing, ideally in a mission‑driven or nonprofit setting.
• Expertise: Experience with communications in the social impact ecosystem strongly preferred, including but not limited to candidates with experience in health, climate, or Equity Tech.
• Experience strongly preferred working with incubators and accelerators.
• Digital Proficiency: Experience in digital content management, social media, and utilizing tools such as Canva and the Adobe Suite.

Schedule and Work Environment

• 8‑hour shift, standard working hours are 9am – 5pm.
• Monday to Friday.
• Weekends and evenings as needed.
• Work Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC 20005, with two days in the office and three days remote.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, comfortable with standing, climbing stairs, walking and sitting.
• Some domestic and international travel may be required, up to 10%.
