Job summary

Eversource NH is seeking an Electrical Protection and Control Technician to assist with testing, maintenance, and operation of protection equipment, IEDs, relays, PLCs, and SCADA systems across the NH territory. The role requires an Associate degree in electrical technology or related field (BSEE/BSET encouraged), a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel and work overtime, including storm restoration duties.

Successful completion of the EEI Technician Aptitude Test is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist testing, maintenance, and operation of protection and control equipment.
  • Work with IEDs, protective relays, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
  • Install, test, and repair protective relays and telecommunications gear.
  • Follow drawings and manufacturer manuals; use test equipment and tools.
  • Travel territory and participate in storm assignments and restorations.

Job description

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Assist with testing, maintenance, and operation of protection and control equipment, including Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), electromechanical and solid-state protective relaying, PLC equipment, Eversource NH telecommunications equipment (fiber optics, two-way radio, and microwave), pole-top Distribution Automation equipment (NOVA, Viper, Scadamate, reclosers), SCADA communication systems, and switchboard devices.
  • Perform installation, testing, and repair of protective relays, SCADA systems, and telecommunications equipment under direct or limited supervision.
  • Follow instructions, interpret electrical/electronic drawings, and comprehend manufacturer technical instruction manuals.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic circuits, operate test equipment, and use hand/power tools.
  • Work from elevated positions (ladders) or within confined spaces as required.
  • Travel throughout the Eversource territory and work overtime as needed; participate in storm assignments including damage assessment and service restoration.
  • Contribute to a multi-step progression program as part of ongoing career development.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • An Associate’s degree in electrical technology, electrical power system technology, electrical control systems, telecommunication technology, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or electronics. Individuals with a BSEE or BSET degree are encouraged to apply.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Successful completion of the EEI Technician Aptitude Test is required.
  • Bargaining unit employees with rights to this posting will be given first consideration.
  • This is a union represented position, so membership in the union may be required.
  • Ability to work a reasonable amount of overtime when offered; travel within the territory and storm-related responsibilities may be required.
