Job summary

Eversource in New Hampshire seeks an experienced supervisor for protective relay systems installation, testing and maintenance. You will lead technicians, plan complex field assignments and ensure safe, timely completion while enforcing company procedures.

Responsibilities include overseeing IEDs, electromechanical and solid-state relays, SCADA and IEC 61850 systems, training staff, interfacing with engineers and vendors, and traveling as needed across MA/CT/NH to support outages and emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electronic/Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction to personnel and performs assignments requiring extensive experience in planning and performing system-wide technical tasks.
  • Oversees installation, testing, maintenance and/or repair of protective relay systems/equipment (IEDs, electromechanical and solid-state relays, PLCs, SCADA, IEC 61850).
  • Ensures safe, timely completion of all work assignments; trains and instructs others within the department.
  • Interprets company policies and procedures; interfaces with vendors and other departments.

Job description

Applicants requiring visa sponsorship to start employment with Eversource will not be considered.Role and Scope of Position:Responsible for providing direction to personnel and/or carrying out assignments which require extensive experience in planning and performing of a variety of system wide technical assignments associated with the installation, acceptance testing, maintenance and/or repair of protective relay systems/equipment for Eversource. The specific system/equipment responsibilities include, but are not limited to, electromechanical and solid-state protective relaying, powerline carrier, DTT (Direct Transfer Trip), SCADA (Supervisory Controls & Data Acquisition), IEC 61850 Systems, HMIs (Human Machine Interface)/mechanical based annunciators, DFRs (Digital Fault Recorders), PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), pole-top reclosers, and system RTUs. Individuals will ensure the use of Human Performance tools/work procedures and will be responsible for supervising/training employees assigned to them while ensuring the completion of all work assignments in a safe and timely manner.Essential Functions:Provides direction to personnel and/or performs assignments requiring extensive experience in planning and performing of a variety of system wide technical assignments associated with the installation, acceptance testing, maintenance and/or repair of protective relay systems/equipment for Eversource.Specific system/equipment responsibilities include IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices), electromechanical and solid-state protective relaying, power line carrier, DTT (Direct Transfer Trip), SCADA (supervisory controls and data acquisition), IEC 61850 systems, HMI (Human Machine Interfaces)/mechanical based annunciators, DFRs (Digital Fault Recorders) and PLCs (programmable logic controllers)Ensures the completion of all work assignments in a safe and timely mannerProvides training to and instructs others within the department; Plans, schedules and reviews work performed and evaluates subordinatesIdentifies appropriate procedural methods; and make decisions based on analysis of informationWorks effectively with subordinates; superiors, interfacing departments and vendorsAnalyzes operational methods and develops improved procedures as neededInterprets Company policies, procedures and practices.Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:Technical Knowledge/Skill:Thorough understanding and complete knowledge of testing and troubleshooting methods of protection and control systems/equipment used by EversourceThorough understanding of the operation, maintenance and software applications of the various protection systems and test equipment that support the transmission and distribution operational functions.Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both written and oral)Education:Associate degree in Electronic/Engineering Technology or equivalentExperience:Minimum of three (3) years of related experience requiredSupervisory experience is preferredLicenses & Certifications:Valid driver’s license is requiredWorking Conditions:Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.Compensation and Benefits:Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.
