Job summary

Belco, headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, seeks a Communications & Community Relations Specialist to lead internal and external communications, events, and community initiatives. This hybrid role requires coordinating programs, managing budgets, measuring impact, and aligning with the Marketing Department's plan while engaging diverse stakeholders.

The candidate will build relationships with community organizations, oversee volunteers and sponsorship activities, and serve as Belco’s primary media

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field and a minimum of two years of similar or related experience.
• Experience in communications, marketing, event planning, or advertising or in an internal MarCom department of a financial institution is preferred.
• Non-profit experience a plus; more than two years of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes comprehensive communications strategies for the credit union, including global communications and public relations initiatives.
• Serves as the primary Belco contact for news releases, media inquiries, and press relationships.
• Ensures consistent messaging and brand voice across channels; collaborates on Belco newsletter.
• Monitors media coverage and coordinates responses; maintains templates and plans for internal/external use.
• Evaluates paid and unpaid media opportunities with Marketing leadership/CEO; coordinates events and logistics.
