Qualifications

  • Minimum of three to five years of professional experience in communications, public relations, community outreach, or marketing, preferably in nonprofit, social services, or public health settings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clearly and compassionately for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Help the director develop, coordinate, and execute a comprehensive strategic communications and outreach plan to promote the Resiliency Center's programs, services, and resources.
  • Design and distribute educational materials, newsletters, brochures, press releases, and digital content to raise awareness about trauma and available support services.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for day-to-day media inquiries and communications, collaborating with leadership to maintain consistent messaging.
  • Manage the Center's digital footprint, including website content updates, social media platforms, and online community boards.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing outreach events, workshops, public forums, and community gatherings.
  • Represent the Center at local community events, health fairs, coalition meetings, and stakeholder gatherings to promote its mission and values.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local organizations, systems partners, businesses, and community members to build networks of support.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align outreach strategies with direct client services and community needs.
  • Support in preparing progress reports, tracking engagement metrics, and documenting outreach outcomes.

Communications and Outreach Coordinator

Principal Accountabilities

Strategic Communications & Public Relations

  • Help the director develop, coordinate, and execute a comprehensive strategic communications and outreach plan to promote the Resiliency Center's programs, services, and resources.
  • Design and distribute educational materials, newsletters, brochures, press releases, and digital content to raise awareness about the impact of trauma and available support services.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for day-to-day media inquiries and communications, collaborating closely with the Director and JFS agency leadership to maintain consistent messaging.
  • Manage the Center's digital footprint, including website content updates, social media platforms, and online community boards, ensuring information is current, accessible, and trauma-informed.

Community Outreach & Engagement

  • Assist the Director in planning, coordinating, and executing a diverse range of outreach events, workshops, public forums, and community gatherings to engage Resiliency Center clients and the community.
  • Assist the Director in representing the Resiliency Center at local community events, health fairs, coalition meetings, and stakeholder gatherings to promote the Center's mission, vision, and values.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local organizations, systems partners, businesses, grassroots groups, survivors, and community members to build lasting networks of support.
  • Coordinate special community initiatives rooted in cultural responsiveness, including remembrance and commemoration events, ensuring they are planned with sensitivity, care, and community input.
  • Collaborate effectively with the internal team, including the Director, Victim/Survivor Navigators, clinicians, the Administrative Assistant, and JFS leadership, to align outreach strategies with direct client services and community needs.
  • Support the Resiliency Center Director in preparing recurring progress reports, tracking community engagement metrics, and documenting outreach program outcomes.
  • Assist in staffing advisory committees, community meetings, and stakeholder forums by coordinating communications, materials, and follow-up activities.
  • Contribute to grant reporting and documentation requirements by tracking participation numbers, event feedback, and community engagement data.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, health and human services, nonprofit management, social services, or a related field required.

Experience:Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in communications, public relations, community outreach, or marketing, preferably within a nonprofit, social services, or public health setting.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a proven ability to write clearly and compassionately for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple events, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practices, crisis-response environments, or human services organizations strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with modern digital communication tools, social media management platforms, graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), and Microsoft Office applications.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, cultural responsiveness, and the ability to work empathetically with trauma survivors and diverse community stakeholders.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Schedule:Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, as required for community events, memorials, and meetings.

Environment:Primarily office-based with frequent community interaction, public speaking, and event coordination responsibilities. Some remote work is possible.

Travel:Ability to travel locally and regionally within the metropolitan area for outreach events, partner meetings, and community presentations.
