Job Description

Crown is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Communications Electronics Installation Technician to join our team and play a key role in our floating electronics installation crew. This is a 100% travel position, requiring assignment to various geographical locations within the United States, often aligning with FAA regional boundaries. This role goes beyond traditional electronics work, requiring a craftsman who can handle all aspects of installing a complete communications facility. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong understanding of electronics and communications systems, coupled with the ability to perform a wide range of physical installation tasks, and demonstrate the potential to lead installation projects. While not initially a direct lead role, this position offers significant opportunities for growth and leadership responsibilities as the individual gains experience and demonstrates their capabilities. You will serve as a valuable on-site resource, interfacing with the FAA and potentially guiding installation teams.

Responsibilities:
• Participate in and potentially lead a floating communications installation crew.
• Travel 100% of the time to various job sites across the United States.
• Possess a working knowledge of the software and alignment of VHF and UHF radios.
• Have setup capability for Radio Control Equipment (RCE).
• Understand and be able to connect Telco requirements (Commercial Telco, RCL, Field Cable, Fiber Optics, etc.).
• Take initial electronic baseline readings and generate necessary paperwork, including FRDF (Facility Reference Data File), according to FAA Technical Handbooks.
• Interface with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic and Technical Operations during radio installations.
• Follow provided engineering packages and participate in any necessary field modifications.
• Potentially provide guidance and support to other installation and construction crew members on-site.
• Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other stakeholders.
• Understand the practical implications of electrical and electronic circuitry.
• Read, understand, and implement engineering diagrams and electrical wiring diagrams.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment within the scope of radio replacement and technical refresh projects.
• Perform comprehensive installation tasks including:
-Mounting and installing various types of antennas.
-Running and terminating coaxial cables and other communication cabling.
-Installing and testing grounding systems.
-Implementing surge protection measures.
-Performing basic electrical wiring and connections.
-Installing and assembling equipment racks.
-Installing and securing cable trays and electrical conduit.
-Ensuring proper infrastructure to support the communication system.
• Work confidently in geographic isolation and create solutions for unique on-site challenges.
• Participate in pre-installation meetings.
• Remove and dispose of existing communications equipment.
• Coordinate frequency outages.
• Install new radio racks and radios, along with other Government Furnished Equipment (GFE).
• Perform electronics testing procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or completion of a 2-year training/certification program in a relevant field, coupled with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in the installation and maintenance of VHF and UHF ground-to-air communication equipment.
• Familiarity with FAA National Airspace (NAS) communications systems, cabling, and equipment.
• Setup capability for Radio Control Equipment (RCE).
• Understanding of Telco requirements (Commercial Telco, RCL, Field Cable, Fiber Optics, etc.).
• Ability to take initial electronic baseline readings and generate necessary paperwork, including FRDF (Facility Reference Data File), according to FAA Technical Handbooks.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Ability to stand, sit, or crouch in one position for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to move objects up to 350 lbs. with the use of a hand truck or pallet jack.
• Ability to occasionally perform assigned work under severe time restraints.
• In good physical condition and able to pass a physical fitness assessment if required.
• Able to climb and work at heights in excess of 60 feet.
• Team player with the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Must have access to good credit for travel expenses, which are reimbursed on a voucher system within two weeks.
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance.No legal offenses in the last 5 years, no ongoing issues. If coming from the military, must have an honorable discharge.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a valid driver’s license

**Must be able to work non-standard hours depending on site requirements.

Rate Range:$20.00 - $49.00/hr on W2
